A Chance for Local Wedding Suppliers to Tweet Up

When you are a small self employed business as many wedding suppliers are, a Tweet Up can be a a fantastic opportunity to meet new friends and form an invaluable network. This is not only great for business but also great for people that spend a lot of time working from home on their own and miss the social life that comes with office parties and colleagues to gossip with.

Kirsten Butler, The Little Wedding Helper, organises Tweet Ups regularly in Bristol with Goldbrick House often playing host to the fun events. They provide a chance to mingle, network and exchange business cards as well as having a glass or two of bubbly and some treats provided by the venue and attending suppliers such as cupcakes, candy buffets, cookies and live entertainment. The great picture below by Marie Man captures the last Tweet Up perfectly.

The next Goldbrick House Tweet Up is the Summer Soiree, which will be held on the terrace on the 7th June from 6pm to 9pm.

The first wedding tweet up to be held in Bath will be on The Penny Lane. It takes place on May 2nd from 6-9pm and here will be bubbly, canapes & music. It is being jointly hosted by Kirsten, with Strawberry Field Catering.

Wedding Industry Tweet Up

Wednesday night was the second Bristol Wedding Tweet Up organised by Kirsten Butler, The Little Wedding Helper and held in the Champagne Bar at the glorious Goldbrick House. Guests from across the Wedding Industry arrived from 6pm to be greeted by complimentary champagne and delicious canapes. Bristol Wedding Photographer Marie Man was on hand with her camera to capture the evening and her brilliant pictures are shown here.

Many Wedding Suppliers had brought goods for guests to sample or win in the raffle including delicious biscuits from Mullion Cove, beautiful flowers by Bijoux Floral and Bella and Fifi and amazing gift bags and boxes from Rachel Goodchild. There was also a free cut and blow dry and hair products from McQueens Hair Design, won by a rather surprised Martin Pemberton as well as CDs from The Tender Trap and yummy cupcakes from Cupcake Cabaret

Music was provided by female trio The Tender Trap who sing in beautiful harmony while playing keyboard, and drums. They played a selection of vintage inspired music that created a lovely ambience as people chattered, laughed and exchanged business cards.

Guests also got to enjoy a delicious selection of sweets from Bristol Candy Buffet. The Buffet was styled in vintage colours to match the Little Wedding Helper's venue styling. It was hugely popular all evening and only a handful of sweets were left in the the pretty jars and vintage tins by the end of the night.

The Little Wedding Helper styled the Champagne Bar with pretty flowers, vintage floral china, gorgeous battered vintage suitcases and a framed board for people to add their business cards to.

It was a great fun and friendly event and there will be another one scheduled in the New Year for anyone who missed out or wants to come to another one. See all of Marie's pictures here

Venue Spotlight: Goldbrick House

In honour of tonights Wedding Industry Tweet Up, we are featuring the stylish Goldbrick House today. Goldbrick House sits near the top of park street in a site that is a conversion of two Georgian town houses and a Victorian factory. It is now an incredibly stylish "food and drink emporium" that is licenced to hold civil ceremonies.

You can tell that the building had different former uses by the way that it is a series of inter-connecting rooms rather than one large space, but this gives it a cosy charm and means that there are specific areas such as the champagne bar, cafe, library, restaurant, loft and terrace.

Getting married at Goldbrick House is surprisingly affordable, given how it has such a glamorous boutique feel as they don't charge venue hire, just a minimum spend that you could easily meet with a reasonably sized reception.

Goldbrick also provide delicious food, cocktails and canapes and having eaten there several times and sampled their canapes I can certainly vouch for the food.

Bristol Wedding Suppliers Tweet Up Networking Event

Next Wednesday, 7th September, approximately 50 of Bristol's Wedding Suppliers will be meeting at Goldbrick House for a Tweet Up organised by The Little Wedding Helper.

Tweet Ups are a chance for suppliers who chat regulary on Twitter to meet up and put some faces to the names they follow. Steph Allison from How 2 I Do Wedding Planning, who attended the last event said

"I really enjoyed the last Tweet Up and I have made some really great contacts as a result, some of which are now good friends. As a self employed Wedding business I don't have any colleagues or a water cooler to chat around, so Twitter has been a great way to meet people and promote my business within the Industry."

Here's a few images form the last Tweet Up, which were taken by West Weddings. You can read their report here

So why not come along, bring some business cards and make some new contacts. It will be held in the Champagne Bar from 6pm to 9pm.
