Poppy in Pearls showcases a selection of jewellery, stationery, accessories, decorations and gifts for your wedding day. Owner Sarah Ross says:
“After planning my own wedding and finding it difficult to source beautiful British made products, I wanted to create a resource for creative brides-to-be, as well as gift buying visitors. I decided to design a site where brides, as well as mothers, sisters, daughters and friends, can visit to shop for inspiring wedding ideas - all from the comfort of their sofa or sneaky work ‘lunch breaks’!

I’m especially excited to meet brides-to-be at this summer’s pop-up shop where they will have an opportunity to see all of Poppy in Pearls’ beautiful items as well as get a first look at brand new designer-makers items soon to join Poppy in Pearls”.

The Happy Dove Wedding Favours

Let's face it wedding favours can be a bit dull sometimes and end up being left on the tables meaning wasted time, money and effort for the bride and groom.

                                             Airmail

Why not do something a bit different with your favours like these fantastic coasters from new Bristol based company The Happy Dove. They are really fun and can be personalised, making them much more likely to be treasured by guests long after the big day.

                                           Bird & bunting

They also offer wine glass charms that make great favours and place names for guests and all products can be colour matched to coordinate with your theme.

Charitable Wedding Favours

If you are looking for a wedding favour idea that goes beyond sugared almonds or miniature whiskey, then why not consider donating to a charity on your guests behalf.

You can of course choose any charity close to you or your families hearts. Bristol also has some great local charities such as Cots for Tots that supports the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael's hospital.

Unicef allows you to purchase specific favours to help children such as vaccines, midwifery equipment, mosquito nets or even a school in a box.

                                Five mosquito nets
Many large national charities now offer a favour service where you will get cards to put on each table explaining that yo have donated in your guests name and a keepsake such as a sticker or pin badge.

From Tractors to Wedding Favours

Today we have a look at wedding favours by Elena Maria. She makes lovely traditional favours such as boxes, tulle bags and bonboneries, all inspired by her own wedding. Elena tells us a bit about how her business got started and shows us some of her lovely favours.

"Ewan and I had got married in 2009 and I created lots of the wedding stationary & accessories myself. In August 2010 I had my first child, Lila. At the time, I was working in a logistics role with a large agricultural company, dealing with spare parts for tractors, combine harvesters, etc.

When the time came to start seriously thinking about going back to work, it didn't seem like the right decision for us so I decided to leave the world of work behind. I would often say to Ewan, 'Wouldn't it be great to one day run my own business doing something that I absolutely love, and that can fit around being a mum?'

I remember picking up a photo that Ewan had taken of me a few days before our wedding; I was sitting on the floor of our living room, surrounded by bits of tulle fabric, ribbon and sugared almonds, putting the finishing touches to the favours. It was such a lovely memory, I looked so happy doing that and that's when the penny dropped!

                                            Classico

Being half Italian, I wanted this to come through in the website by creating a range that is in keeping with traditional Italian favours and bomboniere that I have been brought up around. You'll also notice that all the favour boxes are named after Italian towns and villages too.

I adore weddings and so being given the opportunity to be part of other people's is amazing, a feeling that doesn't fade no matter how many weddings you are involved in :)"
