Real Weddings: Maddie & Chris

Today we are delighted to share the gorgeous wedding of Maddie & Chris who tied the knot on the 24th November 2012. These great shots are taken by Bristol Wedding Photographer Richard Thornton who shares some insights into the couples special day.

The ceremony took place at Christ the King Church in Thornbury and the reception at Kingscote Barn. Richard says "It was a ridiculously wet day, It rained through the preparations, it rained through the ceremony, it rained on the way to the reception and it rained throughout the reception."

"We were only able to get one photograph outside where we didn't need the umbrellas. Luckily the barn at Kingscote offered one spot where the building sheltered us from the driving rain. It was still wet but we sat the bride on my coat and the Bride & Groom were able to drop the umbrellas for a quick photo."

"Despite the elements doing their best to wash out the day, the Bride & Groom were full of smiles and thoroughly enjoyed their big day. They were both more than happy to get their wellies on and get outside in the rain! "

It does look like Maddie & Christian had an amazing day, despite the weather. Many congratulations to the happy couple and thanks for sharing your pictures with us.

Hermione Harbutt Launch Party

Recently Hermione Harbutt launched her stunning new showroom in Clifton Arcade to show case her beautifully intricate wedding and red carpet head pieces. The cream of Bristol's thriving wedding industry were out in force to support Hermione as well as a few famous faces with DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles in attendance with his wife Jessica.

Hermione Harbutt is renown for creating exquisite bridal headdresses and jewellery of heirloom quality and is one of the most prestigious couture accessory designers in the UK. Designer to celebrities and guests of the Royal Wedding, as well as being chosen and endorsed by some of the world's finest bridal and couture designers, Hermione Harbutt pieces are the epitome of luxury and quality for the discerning woman.

Musical entertainment was provided by the Marionettes who performed two acapella numbers. Guests mingled in the arcade as they sipped champagne or sparkling elderflower and nibbled delicious canapes. Many of the female guests had fun trying on some gorgeous sparkling head bands.

The collection features a wide range of colours and designs. As with the bridal collections, inspiration was taken from bygone eras and applied to current colour trends to create modern pieces with a vintage feel. Large deco roses silhouetted against the hair, concentric circles of delicate beading and bright turquoise framed with gold and lapis are just a few styles of pieces available.

The highest quality materials of Pearls, gemstone and Swarovski crystals are intricately laced together into unique, delicate designs. The new Red Carpet Collection was a natural follow on from the success of the Hermione Harbutt bridal collections to provide her signature designs to a wider collection of the women wanting to wear them. Ladies have repeatedly requested the bridal designs in a range of colours so 2012 brings a Collection specifically created in colour to provide that unique statement piece of couture to set ladies apart when facing the flashbulbs for Red Carpet Events.

Now settled into the new showroom, a visit to Hermione Harbutt is a must for Bristol and Bath ladies searching for special occasion and bridal accessories with the wow factor.

A few Changes to Bristol Wedding News

It's been a year since Bristol Wedding News first launched in early June 2011. I started it as way to promote all of the great stuff happening in the wedding industry in Bristol. It's really taken on a life of it's own with input from local suppliers and is regularly viewed up to 6500 times per month.

As I'm shortly expecting a second baby I have been thinking about ways to balance work and family life and how to take some maternity leave to enjoy time with the new baby and our gorgeous toddler. However I really want to keep the blog going, as I think it's worth investing time and effort in. It's strong presence on google means it will continue to be found by more and more engaged couples under many different categories relating to Bristol Weddings.

I have decided to dedicate one working day each month to planning, writing and editing around 12 to 14 new blog posts to be scheduled three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the following month. This allows me to make the most of my permitted "keep in touch days" and also take some time off. To make this work I still need as many guest posts and submissions as possible to keep the blog interesting and varied.

Please can Bristol or locally based wedding suppliers continue to submit useful articles, real weddings, news, competitions and press releases to add into the schedule of posts. If you are reading as a Groom or Bride to Be, please think about submitting your wedding or perhaps a guest post about how you chose your venue or suppliers or how you are managing your planning.

Thanks to everyone who has supported Bristol Wedding News over the last year and please keep coming back and sharing the blog with other Brides and Grooms.

Venue Spotlight: The Mansion House

The Mansion House is a bit of a hidden gem, tucked away near Bristol Zoo in Clifton. It manages to perfectly combine the grandeur of a stately home with the relaxed feel of a more modern venue, making it a perfect choice for a wedding.

The Mansion House is in fact the official residence of the Lord Mayor of Bristol and offers a range of flexible spaces that can be hired for a wedding, from the atrium with it's sweeping staircase to the spacious drawing room and dining room with adjoining conservatory.

The house also boasts two gardens and even has it's own Gazebo, perfect for summer drinks receptions and canapes. It's position also means you can almost feel that you are in a remote country location and not just a few minutes drive from the busy city centre.

Take a look this weeks posts on Top Hats & Teacups Wedding Fair for some Phobos of the house's stunning interiors. For more information on this venue or to download a wedding brochure, visit the website now.

Bristol Brides to Be...Lets Be Sociable

Did you know that Bristol Wedding News is also on Facebook and Twitter? We'd love you to follow us on Twitter or come and "Like" us on Facebook (it's nice to be liked). I launched this blog back in June and I have been so delighted with how it's already grown to over 3000 page views per month and is increasing all of the time, so I thought I'd share some information about the history of Bristol Wedding News.

I started writing Bristol Wedding News as I found it hard to find information about Bristol Weddings and also because, as a Bristol Wedding supplier, I realised it was hard for small businesses to tell Brides what they are up to. Wedding magazine advertising costs hundreds or even thousands of pounds for one small advert and wedding fairs around £100 to £150 to exhibit.

This makes it hard for all of the talented and hard working self employed and often small Wedding businesses to promote themselves, especially when working from home or trying to grow with a small start up budget or work around families. Like me, many Bristol Wedding suppliers that I have met are local women who are following their dreams and trying to build successful careers.

This blog was designed as a way to connect Bristol Brides with great local suppliers and also national suppliers that they can order from online but may not know about. If you regularly read Bristol Wedding News and have found it useful in planning your Wedding, I'd love to hear from you.

Also if you have any feedback about what could improve or what you'd like to see on here, I'd love to hear your views. You can get in touch by email, comment on the posts, comment on our facebook group or message me on Twitter.  However you choose to get in touch, I look forward to hearing from you.

Don't forget that once you have tied the knot, you can send in your Wedding photos to be featured on these pages too. Thank you to all of those who have read and contributed to Bristol Wedding News so far. Let's work together to make it a fantastic resource for any couples getting Married in the Bristol area.

Today Nicola from Nicola Jane Photography is sharing pictures of the Wedding of Melissa and Jon, who got married on the 23rd April this year.

Melissa & Jon were married at the beautiful Boutique Hotel, Berwick lodge on a glorious sunny spring afternoon.

The couple were married in the coach house, before heading back across to the main house and Marquee for drinks and the wedding breakfast.

The flowers were by Lisa Elliott Flowers, based in Clifton and Melissa had chosen hot pink gerberas for her bouquet and table decorations.

Thank you to Nicola for sharing these gorgeous pictures and many thanks to Melissa and Jon for sharing their special day with us. Congratulations to you both.

Venue Spotlight: Kingscote Barn

Kingscote Barn sits in a gorgeous rural location close to Wotton-Under-Edge and Tetbury surrounded by fields and country lanes. The barn was originally part of the farm that also occupies the land and it was specifically converted to become a venue for Weddings, conferences and events.

                                            Wedding Reception

There is also accommodation on site where the smaller surrounding barns have also been converted, meaning plenty of room for the bridal party to stay.

                                           Front view of the barn

The barn really does combine the best of modern and traditional with original stone and oak combined with a light and airy feel. Kingscote Barn provides you with an onsite Events Manager to coordinate your day and thought they do not have a restaurant on site, they offer you a choice of four caterers giving you plenty of choice for your big day.

If you would like to find out more about Kingscote barn, visit the website now.

Real Wedding at The Riverstation

The Riverstation's lovely Wedding Planner, Michelle contacted me recently to share a gorgeous Wedding that took place there recently. It was the marriage of Joanna and James and many thanks to Robert and Patricia Howard from Howard Wedding Photography who captured the stunning images of the day for sharing them with us here.

The couple got married at St Marys Church in Compton Dando before moving to the Riverstation for their gorgeous reception. The Bride wore a beautiful dress from Clifton Brides and her bouquet is by Bella and Fifi.

The Rivestation looked fantastic for the reception with lots of great touches like pretty white chair covers from Ambience Venue Styling, beautiful natural Flowers in pewter jugs by Bella and Fifi and a delicious cheese cake from Chandos Deli

Many congratulations to Jo and James, your Wedding looked stunning. If you would like your reception at the Riverstation, now.
