Real Weddings: Maddie & Chris

Today we are delighted to share the gorgeous wedding of Maddie & Chris who tied the knot on the 24th November 2012. These great shots are taken by Bristol Wedding Photographer Richard Thornton who shares some insights into the couples special day.

The ceremony took place at Christ the King Church in Thornbury and the reception at Kingscote Barn. Richard says "It was a ridiculously wet day, It rained through the preparations, it rained through the ceremony, it rained on the way to the reception and it rained throughout the reception."

"We were only able to get one photograph outside where we didn't need the umbrellas. Luckily the barn at Kingscote offered one spot where the building sheltered us from the driving rain. It was still wet but we sat the bride on my coat and the Bride & Groom were able to drop the umbrellas for a quick photo."

"Despite the elements doing their best to wash out the day, the Bride & Groom were full of smiles and thoroughly enjoyed their big day. They were both more than happy to get their wellies on and get outside in the rain! "

It does look like Maddie & Christian had an amazing day, despite the weather. Many congratulations to the happy couple and thanks for sharing your pictures with us.

Regional Winners Announced

The National Wedding Industry Awards are held annually to recognise and reward excellence in the Wedding Industry. As the UK Wedding Industry is not regulated it's a great way to find quality suppliers as Brides nominate in each category and winners are picked by a panel of expert wedding industry judges, based on customer testimonials.

We recently listed those Bristol wedding suppliers who had been regionally shortlisted. Now the regional winners have been announced and many of the South West winners are based here in Bristol. Again this year Kirsten Butler, The Little Wedding Helper won the Best Special Touch Catergory for her fabulous Venue Styling.

You can read Kirsten's hugely popular article for Bristol Wedding News on styling Village Halls here.

Michelle Jetzer also won Best Wedding Coordinator (Venue) for her work at the Riverstation. We recently featured one of Michelle's lovely Weddings, and you can read about all of the gorgeous details here. Michelle won the national award earlier this year so good luck to Michelle at the award ceremony in January 2013.

Somerset Celebrity Wedding

The stars came to Somerset this weekend when Hollywood actress Carey Mulligan married her singer fiance Marcus Mumford of  Mumford and Sons. Reports show that the couple chose to marry in the barn and in a marquee at a private farm that is owned by Carey's family.

Carey Mulligan and fiance Marcus Mumford are spotted at the New York Times building in New York City

The Bride is said to have worn Versace and had eight bridesmaids in turquoise gowns. Celebrity guests have been named as Colin Firth, Sienna Miller and Jake Gylennhall. It has also been claimed that singer Adele sang for the couple at Marcus' request.

If you'd like your own A-list barn style wedding there are lots of stunning barn and farm locations locally such as Priston Mill, Wick Barn Farm and Kingscote Barn. Check out our rustic barn theme for inspiration on how to have a relaxed but stylish big day like Carey.

Gorgeous Winter Wedding at Kingscote Barn

A while ago I promised you some gorgeous winter weddings. Well, you're in for a treat with this beauty, courtesy of the Little Wedding Helper, who styled the day. The lovely Bride & Groom were Ellen & Neil Sanders who tied the knot at Westbury-On-Trym Parish Church before heading to the fantastic Kingscote Barn for their winter themed reception.

The beautiful flowers & candelabras are by Aqua Wedding & event flowers, based in Cirencester.

Although it was Christmas the couple opted for colours of purple, teal & green, which look stunning. A special mention also for the Brides shoes, which I am reliably informed are the exact same shoes that Carrie wore at her Wedding to Big.

The photographer who took some amazing shots was Barry Dimond and the food was supplied by Crown Catering.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Sanders and we love your stylish Wedding.

Venue Spotlight: Kingscote Barn

Kingscote Barn sits in a gorgeous rural location close to Wotton-Under-Edge and Tetbury surrounded by fields and country lanes. The barn was originally part of the farm that also occupies the land and it was specifically converted to become a venue for Weddings, conferences and events.

                                            Wedding Reception

There is also accommodation on site where the smaller surrounding barns have also been converted, meaning plenty of room for the bridal party to stay.

                                           Front view of the barn

The barn really does combine the best of modern and traditional with original stone and oak combined with a light and airy feel. Kingscote Barn provides you with an onsite Events Manager to coordinate your day and thought they do not have a restaurant on site, they offer you a choice of four caterers giving you plenty of choice for your big day.

If you would like to find out more about Kingscote barn, visit the website now.
