Fly Me To The Moon

Last Thursday The Little Wedding Helper organised a fantastic event with At Bristol called Fly Me To The Moon. It brought together many talented local wedding businesses to celebrate the thriving wedding industry in Bristol.


 
 

Guests arrived to a star themed reception featuring a yummy bespoke candy buffet from Sweet & Pretty (above) with space themed sweets like milky ways, magic stars, flying saucers and wham bars. There was also a stunning star and moon themed cake by Chocolate Delores, star shaped biscuits by Bellevue Bakery, lollipop favours by Piece of Cake and delicious cupcakes scattered with stars by 180 desgress and rising.




 
Emma Norton provided some prety floral centrepieces in mercury vases and award winning magician Darren Campbell wowed the guests with some close hand magic. The Marionettes were on hand to perform whilst people mingled, chatted and sampled the delights on offer. Guests also has the chance to strike a pose in the fun photo booth set up by Fishee Designs.







A real highlight of the evening was a visit to the planetarium for the Winter Night Sky show and it is also fully licenced for civil ceremonies, allowing couples to marry under the stars. At Bristol has a great range of spaces available for wedding ceremonies and receptions as well as a large terrace overlooking the city centre.

Bristol Wedding Suppliers Best in UK

On Wednesday night many of the UK's top wedding suppliers headed to London for the National Wedding Industry Awards which reward excellence in the Wedding Industry. The national winners were chosen by a panel of expert wedding industry judges and it was a fantastic night for Bristol, with four national winners based here.

Kirsten Butler, The Little Wedding Helper (below) won the Best Special Touch Category for her fabulous Venue Styling. Kirsten attended the awards ceremony at the Bloomsbury Ballroom and collected her award on stage to a rapturous reception.

                    


Michele Jetzer also won Best Wedding Coordinator at a venue for the second year running for her work at the Riverstation. The Riverstation said "Michele works hard with couples to ensure that each wedding is unique, meticulously planned and flawlessly executed. Michele has been working at riverstation for almost four years and this award is a testament to her tireless commitment and professionalism. Congratulations Michele!"


                                          

Michele looked stunning on the evening in a gorgeous Jenny Packham gown from The Mews of Clifton.

Hermione Harbutt also won her category for best Wedding Accessory. She said "We are delighted to announce that we have won the award for Best Wedding Accessories in the UK at The Wedding Industry Awards, the highest accolade! Thank you to all our wonderful brides!"

Congratulations also to Bramble and Wild www.brambleandwild.com, who won Highly Commended in the Best Wedding Florist category.

The Best Wedding Entertainment category was won by local magician Darren Campbell www.darrencampbellmagic.co.uk. A huge congratulations to all of the Bristol based winners.

Regional Winners Announced


The National Wedding Industry Awards are held annually to recognise and reward excellence in the Wedding Industry. As the UK Wedding Industry is not regulated it's a great way to find quality suppliers as Brides nominate in each category and winners are picked by a panel of expert wedding industry judges, based on customer testimonials.

                                                           

We recently listed those Bristol wedding suppliers who had been regionally shortlisted. Now the regional winners have been announced and many of the South West winners are based here in Bristol. Again this year Kirsten Butler, The Little Wedding Helper won the Best Special Touch Catergory for her fabulous Venue Styling.

Michelle Jetzer also won Best Wedding Coordinator (Venue) for her work at the Riverstation. We recently featured one of Michelle's lovely Weddings, and you can read about all of the gorgeous details here. Michelle won the national award earlier this year so good luck to Michelle at the award ceremony in January 2013.

Goldney Hall Wedding Fair

Goldney Hall recently hosted a wedding fair with a vintage twist in association with Auntie's Vintage. There was a great range of top suppliers on hand in both the main house and the stunning light and airy Orangery.




Couples had the opporunity to look around the venue and the gorgeous grounds featuring an ornamental canal with bubbling fountain, the stunning tower and the intruiging shell lined grotto.




 
Music was provided by 1940s musical trio, The Marionettes who serenaded visitors on a special stage set up overlooking the fountain and grounds. Other exhibitors included wedding stylist, The Little Wedding Helper, accesory boutique Bridezillas Ltd, photograher Lizzy May, cakes by Chocolate Delores, crockery by Aunties Vintage and venue caterers Fosters Events.

Wedding Suppliers Tweet Up

When you are a small self employed wedding business Tweet Ups provide a great chance to mingle, network and exchange business cards as well as having a glass or two of bubbly and some treats provided by the venue and attending suppliers such as cupcakes, candy buffets, cookies and live entertainment.

                                

The next Goldbrick House Tweet Up is the Summer Soiree, which will be held in the loft and on the terrace this Thursday, 7th June from 6pm to 9pm. There will be live music from musician Matt Bee as well as drinks, canapes and more.

Goldbrick House Open Day

On Sunday Goldbrick House opened its doors for a fabulous wedding open day to allow engaged couples to view the ceremony and reception rooms as they could look for their own big day. The rooms were styled by The Little Wedding Helper using stunning pink and green floral displays by Flowers By Thea.






Acoustic Musician Matt Bee created a relaxed ambiance while couples milled around viewing the range of rooms from the restaurant, which was set up for a reception, to the stylish champagne bar and loft, which was set up as a ceremony space, with access to the outdoor terrace ideal for summer weddings.




A selection of top local wedding suppliers were on hand to give prospective brides and grooms even more inspiration from sweets and lollipop favours from Bristol Candy Buffet (below) to vintage china hire from Bristol Vintage as shown above. There were also free wedding planning tips and advice from How 2 I Do Wedding & Event Planning.





For those with a sweet tooth there was lots to behold from Vintage Candy Buffets to stunning cakes by Chocolate Delores and The Custom Cake Shop.

Paper Sherbet had original design stationary and HQ Hairdressing were on hand to offer advice on wedding hair styling.

Goldbrick House Open Day

Today we have a reminder about a great event taking place in Bristol this Sunday. The ever stylish Goldbrick House is having a wedding open day where you can view the rooms and imagine what they would look like on your big day.

The Little Wedding Helper will be styling the venue and some of Bristol's top wedding  suppliers have been hand picked to set up on the day to give you ideas. You will also get a goody bag and 25% in the cafe so why not pop in for brunch and take a look around if you are still looking for your dream venue or suppliers.

A Chance for Local Wedding Suppliers to Tweet Up

When you are a small self employed business as many wedding suppliers are, a Tweet Up can be a a fantastic opportunity to meet new friends and form an invaluable network. This is not only great for business but also great for people that spend a lot of time working from home on their own and miss the social life that comes with office parties and colleagues to gossip with.

Kirsten Butler, The Little Wedding Helper, organises Tweet Ups regularly in Bristol with Goldbrick House often playing host to the fun events. They provide a chance to mingle, network and exchange business cards as well as having a glass or two of bubbly and some treats provided by the venue and attending suppliers such as cupcakes, candy buffets, cookies and live entertainment. The next Goldbrick House Tweet Up is the Summer Soiree, which will be held on the terrace on the 7th June from 6pm to 9pm.

 The first wedding tweet up to be held in Bath will be on The Penny Lane. It takes place on May 2nd from 6-9pm and here will be bubbly, canapes & music. It is being jointly hosted by Kirsten, with Strawberry Field Catering.

Flowers, Venue Styling and Prop Hire

When it come to creating a theme it's all about the styling and the fine details. For those who want a vintage theme for their wedding there were lots of ideas on display at Top Hats & Teacups Wedding Fair from pretty china to vintage suitcases and vintage inspired floral displays.

The Little Wedding Helper had a inspirational display spanning several decades to show couples how they can use props and styling to transform even the blankest canvas into a beautiful wedding venue. Kirsten specialises in styling marquees and village halls and as well as offering styling advice and inspiration. She also offers an on the morning styling service, meaning that everything is laid out as you had dreamt, while you relax and prepare for the big day.




The Little Wedding  Helper also hires out props for weddings as do Bristol Vintage (bottom photo) and Aunties Vintage, who had some lovely displays of patterned china. Auntie's Vintage China (top photo) also now make unique brooch bouquets as a stunning alternative to flowers. They would make an amazing keepsake and could be passed down as a future family heirloom.





There were also some gorgeous florist's displays from The Wilde Bunch (top photo) and Bramble and Wild (bottom photo).

Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair

Clifton Pavilion was alive with chatter and laughter on Sunday as many couples visited the Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair. The early spring sunshine added to the warm and friendly atmosphere inside, as did the smooth sounds of the sublime trio the Tender Trap who performed upstairs.




Models sauntered around the stalls in stunning lace and satin vintage wedding gowns while enthusiastic brides has their hair transformed into vintage styles. There were many different vintage stands to choose from such as stunning wedding jewellery from Bridezillas (below) to delicious cake from Chocolate Delores (shown above).



Organisers Bristol Vintage had a pretty display of china and glassware available for hire and local designer Rachel Goodchild (shown below) was showcasing her vintage wrapping paper, stationery and wedding blogs. Fun knicker making parties for vintage hens were also showcased from Flo-Jo Boutique as seen below.






Award winning local wedding stylist the Little Wedding Helper had brought a vintage bureau, heaving with gorgeous props that she can use to transform your wedding venue. Next to her Fishee Designs Photo Booth who are mobile photo studio, who can provide fabulous vintage props for your guests to pose with.

The National Wedding Industry Awards 2012

The National Wedding Industry Awards took place in a glitzy ceremony in London last night with the national winners being picked by a panel of expert judges, based on Customer Testimonials.

A massive congratulations to Michelle Jetzer, who won the national prize for Best Wedding Coordinator at a Venue last night for her work at the Riverstation. We recently featured one of Michelle's weddings, and you can read about all of the gorgeous details in the full post here.
