On Wednesday 5th September, there will be an opportunity to visit Old Down Manor and see all that the venue has to offer as well as meeting some of the approved suppliers. There will be a marquee showcasing some inpsirational ideas for Brides and Grooms as to how they can utilise the venue's grounds with fabulous view over the Severn Estuary.

Gorgeous Goldney

The lovely Goldney Hall is a bit of a hidden gem in Bristol. It's part of the University of Bristol and makes a stunning venue due to it's pretty orangery and it's hidden features such as grottos, towers and water features.

You can read more about it in our previous feature here. You can also have the opportunity to take a look around as they will be hosting a vintage inspired wedding fair on Sunday 2nd September in association with Auntie's Vintage China.

Entry costs £1 and will be donated to Breast cancer UK. Find out more about the fair here

Big Beautiful Balloons

With the Bristol Balloon Fiesta underway, our thoughts have turned to all things balloon, which has inspired a look back at one of the most popular posts from last year about balloons making a comeback for weddings.

The humble balloon of kids party fame has been reinvented in a huge (and round) way to make a fantastically stylish Wedding decoration. The verdict has always been out on balloons at Weddings, but we are officially saying that balloons, as long as they are large, round and full of helium are now bang on trend.

I especially love the simplicity of plain white ones. Use them with small displays of flowers instead of large centrepieces and you will save money and look stylish. This look works best with single balloons on long tables, as shown in the picture below.

You can of course use balloons as a great way to introduce some colour, like in the candy buffet shown above. They also make a great feature for your photography as this gorgeous picture from Boutwell Studio below shows.

To get this look you need to order large 32" or 36" round balloons and a helium canister to inflate them. Alternatively you can inflate them with air and hang them from the ceiling like lanterns.

Learn How To Make A Bouquet

This Saturday 4th August will see Rachel from The Tallulah Rose Flower School at the Poppy in Pearls Pop-up shop on Milsom Place, Bath demonstrating how to make your own bridal bouquet for your big day.

Using seasonal flowers brides will have the chance to 'have a go' at making a bouquet with the guidance of the Tallulah Rose Flower School.

No appointment necessary, why not swing by after a morning's browse of Bath's shops and learn a skill, or pop in before a lunch stop at one of Milsom Place’s great restaurants in the glorious city of Bath.

Saturday's bouquet demonstrations will happen throughout the day and is a taster of the one day bridal flower course that Tallulah Rose runs throughout the year.

On the full 1 day course each student will make and take away their own bridal bouquet along with a buttonhole or corsage incorporating basic florist wiring skills. The bridal bouquet can then of course be used as a table centre allowing you time to enjoy your flowers at home.
